Guest Poetry - Vinícius de Moraes
For my 2000 follower narration giveaway I did anticipate that someone might want me to read a famous author. I did not anticipate that it would be in Portugese.
I do not speak Portugese. I did however have a red hot go at it. I have also posted a rough translation below.
@rsoaresautora chose a poem by Vinicius de Moraes, a Brazilian poet who wrote music, poetry and plays throughout his life.
E rir meu riso e derramar meu pranto
Ao seu pesar ou seu contentamento.
E assim, quando mais tarde me procure
Quem sabe a morte, angústia de quem vive
Quem sabe a solidão, fim de quem ama
Eu possa me dizer do amor (que tive):
Que não seja imortal, posto que é chama
Mas que seja infinito enquanto dure.
Loyalty Sonnet
Of everything, to my love I will be attentive
before, and with such zeal, and always, and both
That even in the face of the greatest charm
Of him I love my thoughts more.
I want to live it in every moment
And in praise I will spread my song
And laugh my laugh and shed my tears
Your grief or your contentment.
And so, when you look for me later
Who knows death, the anguish of those who live
Who knows the loneliness, the end of who loves
I can tell of love (that I had):
May it not be immortal, since it is flame
But let it be infinite as long as it lasts.
